| What's New at the Ranch |
|
A busy 2011 summer is coming to an end. The breeding herd has increased in size as I have kept most of my 2008 females instead of moving them to the meat program. This has left me with a short meat supply. The next group of animals for processing have come off of summer pasture. The breeding herd is doing well as are the calves born this past spring. All the rain this summer has been good for the grass and the animals had more than enough this year. Construction at the new ranch is continuing but slow. I am always surprised how much longer some of these larger projects take than I first anticipated. The breeding herd from the main farm will be moving to the new ranch early this winter to join the bison that are already there. I also moved in two breeding bulls this spring and they have settled in and got down to business. "Buffy" moved to the new ranch and comes to see me everytime she sees the truck pull up to the gate.
